Questions teachers ask
How many words can I use?
Up to about 40, but 10 to 20 words makes the best puzzle. Longer lists make the grid bigger, up to 22 × 22.
Can I use words with spaces, like 'solar system'?
Yes. Spaces and hyphens are left out of the grid (SOLARSYSTEM), and the word list shows the word the way you typed it.
Can students play it online?
Yes. Click Share with students and send the link. Students drag across each word, or tap its first and last letters, on a phone, tablet or computer.
Where do suggested words come from?
When you press Suggest words, we build a list for that topic and class, using AI where it is switched on or our ready-made lists otherwise. Always check the words before you print.
